Kalleske

date:2024/4/2 7:2:26 area:South Australia, Australia

The Barossa Valley in South Australia is currently one of the most famous wine regions in Australia, where the unique climate and soil conditions produce excellent Shiraz wines, and Kalleske is one of the star wineries located in this piece of land. But to tell the story of Kalleske, we must also mention another famous winery that has made the Barossa Valley famous - Penfolds. Penfolds broke away from the traditional concept of estate wine (using grapes from their own estates to make wine) and collected quality grapes from various contract vintners in the Barossa Valley to make a blend. This reform was a huge success, and Penfolds Grange quickly skyrocketed to become one of Australia's top wines.

As Penfolds Grange's popularity grew, the original suppliers of the grapes began to diverge: some decided to start their own brands, while others chose to continue supplying the grapes. The Kalleske family, who have been growing grapes in the Barossa Valley for over 200 years, are proud to be the former. Their vineyards are located in the village of Greenock, the heart of the Barossa Valley's wine-growing region, where the climate is ideal for the growth of spritzers, which they supplied to Penfolds Wine King before deciding to go it alone and create their own sixth-generation family brand, Troy Kalleske.
After five generations of hard work, Kalleske has a very mature vineyard, where the average age of the grapes is around fifty years old, planted at strictly controlled densities and managed using organic farming methods, all of which are guaranteed to produce excellent wines. In the beginning, because of the lack of capital and fame, they only rely on the sale of grapes to make a living. The owner of Penfolds saw the quality of the grapes and signed a contract with John Kalleske, Troy's father, to be the supplier of grapes for the Penfolds Grange. Slowly, Penfolds Grange is very popular in the market, and John and his son Troy's winemaking skills are also becoming more and more exquisite, Troy believes that the conditions have been ripe, it is time to go to the establishment of their own family brand. 2002, Troy and his father formally registered their own wine brand Kalleske, with Troy as the chief winemaker embarked on the road of proud entrepreneurship.
Troy and his father ran the family business with dedication, adhering to the same serious and rigorous winemaking principles and gradually gained recognition in the marketplace, and their products began to win many awards at various wine shows around the world. 2005 Kalleske Selection Greenock Shiraz won the Gold Medal at the International Wine Exhibition in Germany in 2007, and 2004 Kalleske Selection Greenock Shiraz won the Gold Medal at the International Wine Exhibition in Germany in 2007. The 2004 Kalleske Greenock Shiraz was nominated for the Australian Export Wine of the Year award, which was selected from over 1500 estates with a 1% chance of winning. This is a testament to the strength of Kalleske's reputation, and in 2008, Kalleske was again recognized with a five-star rating from Australia's leading wine critic, James Halliday, and owner and winemaker, Troy Kalleske, was named Barossa Valley Winemaker of the Year by the Barossa Valley Wine Society.
