Two Hands

date:2024/4/2 6:37:31 area:South Australia, Australia

Two Hands Winery, located in South Australia. In just over a decade, it has grown to become one of the model vintners in the Australian wine industry.

Two Hands was founded in 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz, who wanted to showcase the diversity of Australian Syrah wines.

In 2000, Two Hands started making Syrah with 17 tons of premium Syrah grapes from the McLaren Vale and Padthaway appellations.

Once the product was released, it continued to receive national and international acclaim. Since then, Two Hands' wines have quickly found their way into 24 countries and regions, including the UK, Canada and New Zealand.

In just four years of its existence, Two Hands has been recognized as the "Best Wine Merchant in the Southern Hemisphere" by renowned wine critic Robert Parker. Its Garden Collection has been listed in the prestigious Wine Spectator's "TOP 100 Wines in the world" 12 times in 14 years.

In particular, in November 2012, Two Hands wines were once again included in the Wine Spectator's annual list of the top 100 wines of the year, making Two Hands the only winery in the world to have been awarded this honor for 10 consecutive years.

Two Hands has a strong focus on appellations in the pursuit of high quality ingredients.

Whenever Michael acquires a vineyard, he spends 1-3 years measuring the terroir and geography of the site before planting the vines.

Each vineyard is given a unique name and is planted with the best varieties and harvesting time in mind, based on its soil, elevation, vineyard orientation and microclimate. Once the fruit is ripe and harvested, the grapes are fermented and aged separately in small batches.

In order to guarantee the quality of the wines, Two Hands has a unique blind tasting system.

At the beginning of August each year, the owner, Michael, together with his team, takes the wine aged in different barrels and conducts a blind tasting to classify the wines into A+ to D grades. All wines below grade B are sold in bulk to other wine companies and are not sold as Two Hands wines.

The winery produces several series of wines, including the Flagship Series, Single Vineyard Series, Twelftree Wines, Garden Series, and Picture Series.

Even the affordable and pleasingly tasty Picture series is a B+ grade or above, and is a sincere effort by the winery.
